No need to fret anymore.”
The implication was that the worst had already happened. We had lost much of the cultural riches that had given humans meaning for centuries. All that was going to be taken from us had already been taken.
On the bright side, that meant we were utterly free to reinvent ourselves. Living amidst the emptiness, we had nowhere to go but up. What remained was alienating, but it was also fresh.
Working from the hypothesis that you’re living after the end of the world, what are you free to do that you weren’t able to do before? Who are you free to be?”

I’m sorry – I just can’t sit still long enough to meditate in the traditional sense. I try. I’ve tried for years. I believe in the benefits of meditation. Reduced stress, connecting to your inner knowing, getting to that still small voice, raising your vibration, raising your consciousness – getting connected and plugged into the matrix – the All That Is. Basically getting to that centered happy place where everything is right and ripe with possibility. The best I’ve been able to do though is about 5 minutes – and then - I just get squirmy. And then I’d get sad…..or mad. Are all the bennies of meditating going to be lost for me just because I’m hopeless at it? I mean – how fair is that?? There had to be another form of meditation that would garner the same results but allow me to be Me.

Ahhhhh….I rediscovered Rock Balancing. Years ago I did it for fun. I thought it was the height of cool and awe to look inbetween the two balanced rocks and see one maybe two pinpoints of connection and a whole lot of light streaming through. That the seemingly impossible was possible – I mean – doesn’t that look impossible? Yet – it is…
It dawned on me that it was a perfect analogy for seeking divine connection and light. That what I percieve to be impossible in my life was actually quite possible… With the added bonus of not having to sit still - I can use my whole mind/body/spirit, I am out in nature and I get a piece of incredible art to ponder when I’m done – and leave for someone else’s enjoyment. The meditative aspect for me is that unless I am absolutely present when balancing rock upon rock – it’s just not going to happen. I’m not going to find that sweet spot of equalibrium. Rock Balancing forces me in a delightful way to be completely in the moment. And isn’t that really the goal of any meditative practice?
Give it a go – get out in nature, find a few rocks and see what happens. I have small ones I use inside when it rains. What can I say – I know myself and my limits….
If rock balancing doesn’t work and you know you can’t sit still either - golf accomplishes the same thing – you have to “Be Here Now” or it ain’t gonna happen – just ask my brothers…..

Today graces us with a “Super Full Moon” – the closest a full moon has been to earth in 100 years – if you believe what you read. I have many aquaintences who poo-poo my pleas to be aware on a full moon – dismissing them as so much backyard voodoo hoodoo – well – poopoo. Here’s some food for thought. The moon’s gravitational pull is strong enough to ‘lift’ entire oceans of water away from the earth thereby creating our tides. This was conveyed to me by an engineer so correct me if he’s wrong. Humans are about 60% water and our brains alone are 70% – so – if logic bears out – compared to an ocean – our puny little bodies and minds just might be slightly impacted by a glorious full moon. Maybe so, maybe no…
I think of a full moon kind of like a cosmic pregnancy. Or, an enema . I’m either birthing something or purging something. In any case I enjoy being conscious of the power and working with it rather than simply reacting to the myriad effects. Whether or not there is any real hoodoo in a full moon – the possibility gives a person the opportunity to pause in the habitrail of our minds and patterns of thinking and emoting. If we pause long enough we just might be able to jettison some of our personal poopoo and create space for some real magic to happen. Just a thought…..

Enstein said You can’t change something with the same thinking that created it in the first place. This super full moon is a chance to think about even one thing differently. It could even be how you see and perceive a full moon and its relationship to your personal water – and who knows what that could change. As my lovely friend MaryAnn says “look for an ocean of peace.” In any case – please – keep your hands inside the ride at all times!
